50,005 Actions Taken To Stop ObamaCareThu. 07.30

Posted by:

Last week we launched Operation Waiting Game – a web site that blends online activism with offline field activities to stop a government takeover of our health care.

Hopefully you have had a chance to check out the site. If you haven’t, take a few minutes today to join.

In a little more than one week, over 50,000 actions have been taken by over 500 members to stop ObamaCare! The top three actions taken have been:

  1. Invite your friends to join the site.
  2. Watch the video on why young voters refuse to play the waiting game with their health care.
  3. Spread the word on Twitter.

New actions are being added daily so be sure to keep checking back for more ways to take action.

So far, Operation Waiting Game has received a tremendous response, like this article by Kate Kaye of ClickZ.

Most young people aren’t exactly clued into issues involving doctors, pharmaceutical prescriptions, or health insurance. But, the CRNC believes any kind of compulsory, government-run healthcare system could have a major impact on them. "We want to educate and make the issue relevant to young voters and young conservatives especially," said the committee’s Executive Director Tommy Jardon. The organization is focusing on what some believe will be the result of government-run healthcare, and something most people detest: waiting. A concern is that people may have to wait several days to see a doctor if the system is patterned after Canadian and European-style government-led health programs.

There have also been numerous emails and tweets from our supporters:

"I’ve been poking through your website, doing some of the actions, and I must say that it is an interesting way to generate some grassroots buzz. All the power to you, and I hope it helps to make a dent in this health reform malaise in which we currently find ourselves. I’m already up to a couple hundred points so far ;-) " –Jared

"You really made my day when your email advised your outfit was organized to defeat the abominable health care bill Obama is trying to ram down our throats." -Lindsay

"Play Operation Waiting Game–It’s America who wins!" –Emily

"Tommy Jardon of College Republicans just unveiled Operation Waiting Game. Very cool site." -@RobBluey

If you haven’t already joined Operation Waiting Game, take a few minutes today to check it out. If you are already a member, make sure to keep checking back to see the new actions we are adding regularly.

Obama’s answer to everything is: government. That doesn’t make every answer he has wrong, just most of them.

Another Democrat Governor. Another disaster for students.Wed. 07.29

Posted by:

Jon Corzine’s tenure in Trenton has been
absolutely disastrous for New Jersey’s
more than 98,000 college students.

Under the failed leadership of Jon Corzine, New Jersey’s colleges and universities have
seen drastic reductions in state aid. In fact, New Jersey ranks dead last in the nation in
terms of new investment into higher education. This has lead to a surge in
tuition rates and put college affordability further out of reach for even more New Jersey
students.

New Jersey’s
unemployment rate currently stands as the highest in the entire region with
numerous counties facing double digit unemployment. This means that students
who are set to graduate from New
Jersey
’s colleges and universities this fall will be
entering the worst job market in more than a generation. This will be the first
decade since the Great Depression in which New Jersey will have fewer private sector jobs
at the close of the decade than it had at the beginning.

In order to unite
students from across the Garden
State
with the mission of
educating fellow students about these failed policies of Jon Corzine, The New
Jersey College Republicans have launched the “Students Against Corzine
campaign.

The Students Against Corzine Campaign held its first rally
earlier this month when President Obama came to New Jersey to campaign for Gov. Corzine.
Scores of New Jersey College Republicans, like the one shown below, were on hand
to welcome the President and remind him about what he said so often last year,
“Change is coming.” We couldn’t agree more. In 2009, the time has finally
come to change the direction of New Jersey, moving it back toward prosperity.

At a roundtable discussion earlier this week with students at
the College of New Jersey, Chris Christie and his nominee for Lt. Governor, Kim
Guadagno did something Jon Corzine and the Democrats have never done during
their time in Trenton…They took the time to sit down face to face with New
Jersey’s college students and with their help outline a comprehensive plan to
make college more affordable and bring jobs back to New Jersey so that our
college graduates can afford to stay and raise a family in the same state where
they themselves were born and raised.

With your help this fall, this dream will become a reality as Chris Christie and Kim Guadagno will deliver the better New Jersey the 98,000 students in New Jersey deserve.

Backlash: Democratic Dangers MountWed. 07.29

This morning, Politico’s front page emblazoned the words, “Democratic Dangers Mount,” signaling that only six months into the Obama administration, the Democrat’s popularity and approval ratings are slipping.

While the DCCC and DSCC are struggling to recruit candidates, the NRCC and NRSC are flourshing with top tier recruits ready to run competitive races across the country. With polls showing Republican candidates favored in the two 2009 Gubernatorial elections in New Jersey & Virginia, victory is within our grasp.

Check out Politico’s entire article here.

This is a strong signal that across America that our efforts are paying off. You can take part as well; whether by helping a local campaign, calling your elected officials, or participating in the College Republican’s online effort to stop government run healthcare at Operation Waiting Game. Stand up for your conservative values and take part in the discussion today!

College Republicans vs. College DemocratsTue. 07.28

The College Democrats and College Republicans are both active in the
health care debate. Good for us and good for them, but I’d like to take a moment to compare the College Democrats’ activism to that of the College Republicans.

Here is how the College Democrats are getting active:
__________

Help us get 50,000 contacts to Congress today!

Call 1-877-264-HCAN (4226)*

The health care reform bill being voted on in the House this week will save you an average of $2,800 per year.1 That bill says those who make more than a quarter of a million dollars a year should help pay for reform by rolling back Bush’s tax cuts by just 1%.

Can you call your Representative today and tell them to stand up for health care?

Here is a sample of what you can say:

• Press 1 to be connected to your Representative.
• Please be polite. Ask to talk with someone who can speak to the Representative’s position on health care.

I’m calling from Health Care for America Now to make sure that Rep. (Blank) knows that we need real health care reform in 2009. The House health care bill, H.R. 3200, will provide quality, affordable health care for all with good benefits and affordable costs.

Health care can’t wait, please vote for H.R. 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act, before you leave for vacation.

__________

College Democrats (i.e. the cool kids who voted for Obama…) are doing it like grandma and grandpa: calling. Not cool (no offense grandma and grandpa).

How are the College Republicans doing it?

Check out http://operationwaitinggame.com, and find out. Its a lovely online place without switchboards, phone scripts and liberal fairy tales.

The 47* Million UninsuredMon. 07.27

President Obama’s reason for spending $1.6 trillion on health care "reform" is to cover the 47* million Americans without health insurance, but have you ever stopped to think about just who these people are are?

Add up the numbers. You’ll be surprised.

The Fight We FightFri. 07.24

Posted by:

When many Republican students arrive on campus they are surrounded by leftists bent on belittling, marginalizing and ridiculing their views.

In each direction, Republican students are outflanked. On their right are liberal students and College Democrats. On their left are liberal university staff and bureaucrats. In front of them are liberal members of the community. From behind – stabbing them in the back – are liberal professors betraying the trust students place in them. Even the air Republican students breath offer them no reprieve as campus TVs and airwaves often carry the thinly veiled liberal propaganda machines of CNN and MSNBC, or something similar.

For many, there is no escape. Like quicksand, liberalism quickly engulfs Republican students rendering them unable to move and eventually suffocating them.

Faced with such a hopeless situation – trying only to survive – the typical Republican college student will find a way to hide his or her views. Others will let go of there views altogether, feeling like they have to be un-political to “fit in.” And others still, will change their views to gain acceptance by their fellow college students. For these students there is no escape, because they don’t see one. Only the lucky few – a number far too small – find the College Republicans. Only the luck few see a way out.

As bleak as the picture is, hope springs eternal. Most students when they arrive are not “set” politically, will be voting in the next year or so, and are looking to join a student group. This spells opportunity for College Republicans. By giving students what they are looking for – a fun, social student group to join – College Republicans can give Republican principles and conservatism a fighting chance.

As you read, the College Republican National Committee is cruising along at about 55 mph in the right direction. We take small steps everyday in fighting liberalism online and on campus, but we still are stricken by an inability to have a meaningful and direct impact on the campus life of the average, grassroots College Republican.

With your continued help, what we could be is an idea born by great philosophers and reborn by Ronald Reagan: the shining city on a hill. We could be a beacon of freedom in the darkness of liberalism. We could be a welcome place for Republican students to go, because they have nowhere else. We could that thing which shines on college campuses.

We have always relied on our 1800+ chapters around the country to be our boots on the ground; our army is 200,000 strong. What we need is support from all directions: land, air, and sea. College Republicans are no longer content with recruiting and training today’s grassroots activists and tomorrow’s conservative leaders. For the first time ever, College Republicans are suiting up for the debate not only at your local college campus but in every state, around the country, indeed, the globe.

College Republicans are pivoting our resources, expertise, and manpower towards becoming the frontline organization on the right that focuses exclusively on young people. We’re already there. We’ve been on college campuses for over 117 years. It’s time we modernized our arsenal and fought the left on all fronts. To do this, we are employing cutting-edge strategies in reaching out to young people in a medium they are most comfortable with: the Internet.

College Republicans have integrated our efforts with social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. We produce, distribute, and display a variety of different videos and multimedia presentations on our website, www.CollegeRepublicans.org, and special project sites such as www.OperationWaitingGame.com. We have an active and ever-growing e-mail membership list of well over 150,000 activists.

But most importantly, we recognize that technology will always evolve into new and exciting forms, the left will never loosen their grip on academia, and so we must never tire in our campaign to win every student, campus, and our entire generation for conservatives once again.

Together, tomorrow can be as bright as our young people today.
